SF Planning Limited was established in 2005 by Simon Firkins, building on his significant planning experience in both the public and private sectors over the previous decade. Following a rapid expansion in business, Mark Godson joined the company in May 2008 having previously worked with Simon at Cotswold District Council in the early part of both of their careers. SF Planning Limited now has a broad client base as well as a diverse range of public and private sector experience.

Simon Firkins BA(Hons) MTP MRTPI

Following graduation from the University of Manchester in 1996 with a BA (Hons) Degree in Town and Country Planning and a Master of Town Planning; Simon started his career in Local Government.  Simon has almost five years experience working in the Development Control function of both rural and urban planning authorities, latterly at a senior level.  Simon is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and also has more than six years of experience of planning in the private sector, previously as an Associate, prior to establishing SF Planning Limited in 2005.  Simon has a wide range of experience from complex listed building projects to large scale development proposals.  Outside of work, Simon is a keen squash player and currently plays in Gloucestershire Premier League.

Mark Godson BSc(Hons) MA MRTPI

Mark has over ten years of planning experience, and having graduated from the University of Southampton in 1998 with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Geography, he started his career with Cotswold District Council.  Mark achieved an MA in Town and Country Planning from the University of the West of England in 2003, quickly followed by membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.  In 2004 he joined Cheltenham Borough Council where he was a Senior Planner for 4½ years before joining SF Planning Limited in May 2008.  Mark has a wealth of planning experience, such as major town centre regeneration schemes and urban extensions, through to individual dwellings and householder schemes.
When not at work, Mark is enjoying family life with his wife, following the birth of their first baby in June 2008.
