Three Peaks Challenge

Three peaks

This coming Saturday, our very own Marcus Evans is walking the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for a fantastic cause. This involves the climbing of the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, within 24 hours – Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis.

A popular misconception is that the three mountains that form the challenge are the three tallest on the British mainland. Rather, they are the tallest mountains within each representative country: Scafell Pike is the tallest in England; Snowdon, the tallest in Wales and Ben Nevis the tallest in Scotland — over one hundred peaks in Scotland are higher than Scafell Pike, and 56 higher than Snowdon.

The total walking distance is 23 miles and the total ascent 3064 metres, not to mention the driving distance of 462 miles. As you can see, this is an almighty challenge and we wish Marcus all the best. The group are raising money for the Neurosurgical unit at the University Hospital of Wales and so if you’d like to sponsor them, please click here.
