Forest of Dean District ‘Preferred Options’ Consultation

Forest of Dean District Council have released the ‘Preferred Options’ consultation for the new local plan which closes on Thursday 17th December 2020. At this stage, specific sites are not identified although general areas considered appropriate to meet development needs for the plan period are suggested.

The strategy, which has been approved for consultation by District Councillors, includes a new mixed use development at Beachley, using the army camp which is to be vacated, a major development at Newent and a new settlement.  The location of this new settlement is yet to be fixed but may be within the broad area where the A40 and A48 meet. The major sites will need to include a mixture of housing, employment, greenspace and community facilities.

This consultation is looking for comments in support of the strategy or suggestions to modify the strategy, propose alternative sites or suggestions that the strategy should be changed in any way.

The preferred options consultation document and committee report can be viewed on the Forest of Dean Council website; www.fdean.gov.uk/LocalPlanPreferredOption

Clients are advised to contact us as soon as possible if you would like us to submit your land for consideration by the council.
