Green Belt Development Success in Cheltenham

SF Planning are pleased to secure full planning permission for a green belt development on the edge of Cheltenham.

The site in the Reddings is located within the Gloucester and Cheltenham Green Belt. Local planning policy allows for “Limited residential infilling of built frontages on roads within the Green Belt and the Principal Urban Area of Cheltenham…provided there is no resulting harm to the openness of the Green Belt.”

Following the refusal of an initial application on neighbouring amenity grounds only; SF Planning worked closely with the applicant, Coombes Everitt Architects and light assessment consultants, T16 Design to produce a revised scheme. We addressed the concerns of council officers, whilst meeting the design and floor area aspirations of our client.

We were subsequently able to demonstrate that:

  • The scheme was policy compliant
  • The revised proposals represented an acceptable design that will not result in any unacceptable harm to the design or character of its surroundings.

Credit should also be given to Cheltenham Borough Council officers for their pragmatic and communicative approach throughout the application process. A positive outcome all round.
