Tirley Self Build Dwelling Approved

Tewkesbury Borough Council recently granted planning permission for another of our self build projects in Tirley, adding to a number of successful self build schemes SF Planing Limited have worked on, including developments at Bromsberrow Heath and Shuthonger.

Our Planning, Design and Access Statement focused on three main elements to construct a planning argument for allowing the dwelling at Tirley, which does not have a settlement boundary but does have some local level services.

Firstly we demonstrated the proposed development was “infill development” within the village of Tirley and therefore should be considered entirely acceptable in principle in accordance with policy SD10 of the Joint Core Strategy (JCS). We also provided appeal precedent in this regard, following on from one of our successful appeals elsewhere in Tewkesbury.  The location was proven not to be “isolated” and therefore a sustainable location for new housing, within walking distance of a number of services and with good public transport links.

We also successfully argued the proposals would make a small contribution towards housing supply in an area which does not have a five year housing land supply as well as providing a “self build” plot for the applicant to meet requirements set out in national policy. All these matters weighed in favour of the development.
