New homes on redundant car park in Hillingdon

SF Planning are happy to report we recently helped achieve a resolution to grant planning permission from the London Borough of Hillingdon’s Planning Committee, for the residential development of 1040 Uxbridge Road, having acted as planning consultant.

The proposals were developed in collaboration with PAPA Architects, our wider consultant team and the London Borough of Hillingdon and included a series of positive pre-application and post submission discussions and negotiation.

The site falls within a predominantly residential area in close proximity to the facilities and services on Uxbridge Road itself as well as Hayes town centre. Therefore we made the case new housing should be considered acceptable in principle and that the site would secure an overall public benefit to the wider area through the re-development of a redundant car park. The proposed residential units are achieved through one single building which respects the character and appearance of the area and would maximize the potential of this underutilised land within an urban area which is well served by public transport.

We assisted the architects in ensuring the scheme is one of a high quality nature which responds to and respects the local character of buildings, with an appropriate massing and the use of high quality complementary materials taking reference from the adjoining pallet whilst complying with all relevant technical planning policies.

The scheme was approved unanimously approved, subject to a s106 agreement, by Hillingdon’s Planning Committee who were complementary of various aspects of the scheme.
