Planning permission sought – Bourton on the Water

Planning permission

SF Planning were delighted to recently secure planning permission for a replacement dwelling just outside of Bourton-on-the-Water for two lovely clients. Working together with LANZA Architects, a comprehensive planning application for a high quality design was submitted at the beginning of August 2021.

The site currently comprises a single storey dwelling with an assortment of outbuildings. Planning permission was sought for the demolition of all existing buildings on site and the erection of a replacement dwelling with detached garage. The new dwelling will be a part two-storey dwelling.

It has been designed to reflect the vernacular architecture of the district whilst also incorporating contemporary elements. The two-storey element, which will be the primary focus, will take a farmhouse aesthetic utilising Cotswold stone, replica Cotswold slates and metal framed windows. In contrast, the single storey element will in part be more contemporary in appearance with metal clad roofing and walling and crittall style windows. The garage building takes a traditional form and appearance with Cotswold stone walls and roof slates.

The siting of the replacement dwelling and garage has been carefully considered to ensure minimal impact on the landscape setting of the AONB and on the amenities of occupiers of the adjoining residential properties.

A special thanks to the planning officer at Cotswold District Council who efficiently dealt with the application resulting in the decision notice being issued five weeks after submission.
